Country sensation and It Takes Two star Adam Harvey is at noon, and former Australian Idol winner Damien Leith at 1pm.

Both will be performing songs from their respective new albums on the Mall Music stage.

I took my sister (who had never heard of Damien before

) and she loves him just as much as me!

His stage presence was amazing, the riffs that they were playing were outstanding! and of course he brought me to uncontrolled tears when he played his last song that was dedicated to people that he had lost. I know how he feels.

I saw Damien Leith at Rooty Hill RSL in July and it was awsum. I've just found out he's going to be playing again on the 20th of December!

Here's the description from the site -

Damien Leith has announced new performance dates that will feature a special Christmas twist. ‘Just for Christmas’ will see him perform songs from his three latest albums with a few Christmas songs thrown in to share in the festive spirit.

I got my ticket already ($60 for dinner and show - bargain!) on the RSL gig guide.

The venue, CHPRSL, was great.. they did a fantastic light show to enhance the atmosphere of the afternoon.

Indi and Eric too were at their prime and the three together, are just fabulous.

He sang, amonst other songs, Catch the Wind, Annies Song, Cold Cold Heart, Unchained Melody, Guitar Man, Stairway to Heaven, Hallelujah, 22 steps, Sky, Beautiful and Wicked Game.

They were all wonderful and i particularly was entranced by Hallelujah and Beauitiful

I love the jokes in between the magical music.. Damien is so naturally entertaining on stage.

plus Happy Birthday song to Jarvis, who appeared in the auditorium during the first set.

Indi did a magical first ever performance on stage with her Irish tin whistle... excellent!

Eric was in great form and i particular enjoyed the "Peter Frampton style" talk box

Altogether a totally enjoyable afternoon as to be expected from the master entertainer that Damien is. As I have proclaimed on the forum many times, I can listen to the same songs for hours and still not have enough.

"An evening at the Limelight Lounge with Damien Leith performing" was the major prize of a competition for about 50 of the station's listeners. What a brilliant night it was too... you guessed it! I was one of the lucky winners!!!

But now you can share the experience, too

Lars Peterson (Mix's afternoon dj and MC at the Limelight Lounge show) said that Damien's recorded show will be broadcasted this Friday (15.8.08) at 7pm on Mix 106.5 FM (Sydney)

Due to the success and sold out shows of his current sold out tour, poor Damien's not getting much rest to finish 2008! At least he says he loves the live performances and touring so it's a win-win for all of us

This is PHASE 2 of his Catch the Wind: Songs of a Generation Tour.

He's performing songs from his last 3 albums, featuring the latest Catch the Wind... but here's the super exciting part: Damien said he'll also be trying out some of his new original songs during this phase

You'll need to start checking cause some tickets are already on sale - some NSW and QLD shows are up first in September. Keep checking that DLO site cause they haven't given any for Tassie or SA yet... but we're hoping that'll be up soon!

By the way, did you know that Damien's performing this weekend on the North Coast of NSW? Tonight he's playing at Ballina RSL. Tomorrow Damien will be at New Haven Bowling Club (2.8.08). These were recent additions to the current tour so i don't think they're sold out shows (ring and check - I could be wrong!). I am really excited because I am going to be going to this concert at Rooty Hill RSL on the 18th July.
This will be going back in time for me.
Damiens Tour is Catch the Wind - Songs of a Generation.
Well he is not too far from the truth there with me and Rooty Hill RSL. It is probably over 20 years since I last went to this Club and I must say that besides the fact of seeing Damien perform again, I am really looking forward to seeing all the changes that they have made to the place.
It was a hub of activity back then and I know that they have made big improvements in the last few years.
There is even a Holiday Inn Hotel resort next door.
My friends and I will be meeting up for dinner beforehand and now we have to choose between the different types of eateries at the Club. Decisions, decisions.
My bestie is going to a function at the Club this week, so I think I will contact her to find out what she thought.
Anyway, this looks like it will be a FANTASTIC night, so if you haven't got tickets yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Get a group of friends together, or go on your own, I have done that before, and phone the club to secure your tickets.
I have already seen Damien on this tour and let me tell you, this guy is GREAT value and he is on fire. Don't miss out. At $40 a ticket for a great night at a great Club, you can't lose.

I was so lucky to be in the audience at Damien Leith's Revesby Workers Club show last week. It was part of his Catch the Wind tour. And my, oh, my, I so made the RIGHT decision.

Although I really enjoyed his show there last year, THIS show blew that one out of the water!

There was just Damien, two other gifted guitarists (Eric Aranda and Jimmy Roach) and a violin player (Indie Star) who added a really special dimension to the musical accompaniment. All together it was the acoustic sound that Damien had been promising. It wasn't a small venue, but it still felt pretty up close and personal.

I don't know if it was because it was a night-time show (that alone can change the mood )- but the atmosphere was definitely much more electric with excitement and the audience was definitely more verbal (in a good way) than last year's and you could tell he was loving it too. The response to Damien's gorgeous singing was pretty much like mine: awe-struck then rapture whenever he'd hit those high notes so beautifully and strongly. Then he'd sustain a note with one breath... LOL I tried to, too.

Damien was such an entertainer. He loves to tell a story and was so amusing with his banter - he has such an easy charm on stage. Damien sang a mixture from all his 3 albums - so many of my favourites including his wonderful alternative arrangement of Long Way Back, Annie's Song, the lovely and jaunty Everybody's Talking at Me (complete with a fun sing-along) from the latest album... and of course Hallelujah (stunning), Wicked Game(astounding)! (There were also surprise snippets of some covers... LOVED THEM ALL!!)

I'll try to get a photo up, if I can. But for now, I'll always remember how fantastic it was to hear him sing Beautiful

(his original song from Where We Land). I was really hoping he would! The new introduction and guitar arrangement for it were wonderful. I've never heard Damien sing it so strongly as that night. I had to jump up to clap him at the end, it was just perfect. What's wonderful is that others thought the same too and were also on their feet.

And he's got just three NSW show left...

WA's turn tonight then SA, Canberra and back to NSW to finish in about 4 weeks.

If you're lucky, some remaining venues may have a few seats left but be quick! You'll be in for a treat, for sure. I've posted the details below (saves anyone searching...)

Despite struggling with his voice Damien sang beautifully and really entertained the audience. Very special in such an intimate venue. Loved the other guitarists and violinist too and the choice of songs was wonderful - especially for someone like me who was a teenager in the 70s, although my daughter enjoyed them just as much. I JUST FED MY ADDICTION IM AFRAID. ITS WORSE NOW.

ahhhhhhhhhh .. Damien was brilliant and just so alive with the audience in between songs. It just goes so so fast and you want more.

I had some trouble with the new camera (a serious blonde moment im afraid) but was able to take first half with it. 2nd half was with my standby and i took some brilliant ones i hope to share with you shortly

I took the plunge just before he returned for the last last song and sped up to the front and sat on the floor to get some even better shots and to get to really see him perform up close. It was worth the initial fear of upsetting someone. Damien told me he noticed me there when i met him for the signing. He signed the CD for a friend overseas who loves his music too.

Whilst the show was just one big highlight some highights that stood out for me..

His rendition tonight of Beautiful.. was simply bewdiful!!!

Eric was at is absolute best. I can listen to his complex guitar playing for hours! . Got a great closeup of him too at the end for any Eric fans.

Apparently Damien is learning Stairway to Heaven and he sang a small part of it. WOW!

Halleluha, Danny Boy and Unchained Melody all great. Love the differences he makes to 22 steps everytime i hear it.

Audience did a lot of whistling and singing too.. and sometimes in the quiet bits.

Never seen a singer capture the audience so much as Damien does.

All in all a wonderful night

IF YOU HAVENT BOUGHT TICKETS TO REMAINING SHOWS ON THE TOUR. DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOUR. WORTH EVERY CENT, AND THEN SOME.
